The positions are primarily located in our Atlantic Regional Office in Amherst, Nova Scotia, but could include positions within Indigenous Services Canada in the Atlantic Region.

Successful candidates may choose to live in Amherst or in nearby cities, such as Moncton, NB, which is forty (40) minute drive, or Truro, which is a one (1) hour drive from Amherst.

Intent of the process

This is an anticipatory selection process.

A pool of candidates may be established to staff similar positions in the Atlantic and Quebec Regions at Indigenous Services Canada.

Various linguistic profiles requirement as well as tenures and/or security clearance may vary according to the position being staffed.

The pool could be used to offer acting appointments, assignment, secondment or deployment under exceptional circumstances in order to protect employee's indeterminate status.

A covering letter in 5,000 words (maximum) "Candidates must demonstrate, in their cover letter how they meet the EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE factors listed in the essential qualifications. It is NOT sufficient to only state that these qualifications are met or to provide a listing of current or past duties & responsibilities. Rather, you must clearly demonstrate HOW, WHEN, and WHERE the qualification was met through substantiation by describing examples of work performed. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION
• Successful completion of two (2) years of an acceptable postsecondary* educational program.
OR
• An acceptable combination** of education, training and/or experience.

*Postsecondary is a reference to education subsequent to high school and includes college, CEGEP or university programs.

**Acceptable combination is defined as a minimum of a high school diploma and experience and/or training in a field relevant to the position, (i.e. items listed under Essential Experience and/or asset criteria of the Statement of Merit Criteria, or any other related experience).

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCES
• Experience* in researching, and analysing information, developing options and recommendations.
• Experience* in providing advice and recommendations to clients or management.
• Experience* in analysing and assessing material for content and quality assurance.

*Experience refers to the breadth and depth of the experience acquired (demonstrated by the performance of diverse and associated duties) for a minimum of one (1) year within the last five (5) years.

Usually, most positions to be filled in the Atlantic Region are English Essential but there can also be needs for bilingual imperative BBB/BBB or CBC/CBC.
