Work environment

This position is in the RCMP Disability Management and Accommodation policy centre (Headquarters) and involves;
• Provision of strategic advice and recommendations to all levels of management on complex disability management and accommodation (all prohibited grounds of discrimination) cases.
• Development of force-wide standards, guidelines, tools and continuous program improvement of the RCMP’s disability management program (e.g. early intervention, case management and return-to-work planning); and, accommodation (all prohibited grounds of discrimination).
• Interpretation of disability management and accommodation policy and legislation, including research and analysis;
• Preparation and delivery of presentations, training material, briefing notes and reports for management.
• Development and fostering positive working relationships with internal stakeholders, multi-tasking in a fast paced environment and working as part of a team.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one position on an indeterminate basis, with a linguistic profile of Bilingual Imperative CBC/CBC, and with an RCMP Enhanced Reliability security clearance.

A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP in the National Capital Region on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various linguistic profiles and various RCMP security clearances.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Notification regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Social Sciences or Health Sciences OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience in the area of disability management and accommodation.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
EX1: Recent and significant experience* in complex case management of files in at least two of the following programs within the public or private sector: employee workplace accommodations due to all prohibited grounds of discrimination, disability management, health and safety or return-to-work.
EX2: Recent and significant experience* of the formulation of advice to managers (all levels) and employees on the application of laws and policies related to workplace accommodations, disability management, health and safety or return-to-work programs.
EX3: Experience with duty to accommodate due to all prohibited grounds of discrimination found in the Canadian Human Rights Act and/or provincial human rights legislation in the public or private sector.

*NOTES:
"Significant" experience is defined as experience associated with having performed a broad range of related activities which could normally be acquired over a period of approximately 2 years.

"Recent" experience is defined as experience associated with having performed this function in the past 5 years.
