Duties

The Technical/Project Officer, Technical Data provides Technical Data Management (TDM) subject matter expertise, advice and related support services during the entire life cycle of national and regional CCG assets.

He/she also provides engineering drawing development and production services, as well as advice, project management, and the requisite governance in support of CCG Asset National Technical Data requirements.

The Technical/Project Officer, Technical Data translates TDM program requirements into functional specifications including maintenance and upkeep of CCG TDM tools and conducts periodic audits and consultation with regions to ensure life cycle management activities are adequately defined and employed for the life cycle materiel management of DFO/CCG assets.

The incumbent is the national authority of the TDM program and collaborates with the engineering and production staff in CCG regions by developing and implementing the appropriate methodology necessary to support the life cycle management of CCG Assets from their conception through to disposal.

Intent of the process

A pool of partially qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures (indeterminate, acting, term, assignment, secondment, deployment, etc.), various language requirements and various security requirements within DFO and Coast Guard across Canada.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
Experience in the management of an information management program regarding technical data and configuration management support to clients.
Experience in the oversight and/or management of technical project teams.
Significant** experience in the oversight and/or use of AutoCAD software for the provision of technical drawings services.
Significant** experience in the oversight and/or use of information management software for technical documentation management.

**Significant is understood to mean the depth and breadth of the experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of various complex related activities for a period of approximately two years.

Experience in the development of technical documentation management governance.
Experience in providing technical support expertise to engineering or operational personnel.
Experience related to project management.

KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of the Guidelines for employees of the Government of Canada: Information Management (IM) Basics.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Willingness to travel within Canada.
Willingness and ability to work overtime.
Willingness and ability to occasionally work in the field such as on board ship, on a tower, in a lighthouse, for a short period of time.
