Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff two positions on an indeterminate basis. A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates may be established to staff similar or identical positions at Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) and Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs (CIRNA) with various linguistic profiles (English essential, French or English Essential, BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC) and/or requirement as well as tenures (indeterminate, deployment, acting, specified period, assignment, secondment) and/or the security clearance (reliability or secret), which may vary according to the position being staffed.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. EDUCATION:

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, geological engineering, or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:

Eligible for certification with a provincial or territorial engineering association as a Professional Engineer in Canada.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCES:

Recent* and significant** experience in at least one of the following:

• Program or project management
• Engineering planning and design
• Construction and implementation of infrastructure projects
• Administration or oversight of real property assets

In one or more of the following areas:

• Water treatment, water supply and water distribution systems;
• Wastewater collection and treatment systems;
• Urban land planning and development;
• Environmental engineering projects, including environmental remediation;
• Civil or municipal engineering works such as roads, bridges and other infrastructure;
• Energy efficiency and/or electricity generation (conventional and renewable sources);
• Housing, schools and other institutional buildings;
• Building mechanical or electrical systems.

Recent* and significant** experience in the review or technical evaluation of architectural or engineering reports.

Experience in providing technical and strategic advice to management.

*Recent experience is defined as experience within the last five (5) years.

** Significant meaning normally acquired with more than three (3) years experience.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

Additional education or certification related to engineering or project management.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:

Current certification as a Professional Engineer in Canada.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCES:

Experience in operating or designing municipal type infrastructure in or for First Nations communities.

Experience in consulting engineering or in the construction sector.

Experience in conducting fieldwork, site inspections or on-site construction.

Experience in real property management.

Experience in working with various levels of government and/or multiple stakeholders and/or First Nations communities.

Experience in managing human and financial resources.
