Work environment

These positions are located at 1200 Vanier Parkway, Ottawa, Ontario.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff eight (8) positions on an indeterminate basis, with a linguistic profile of English Essential and with various RCMP security clearances.

A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP in the National Capital Region on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various linguistic profiles and various RCMP security clearances.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Notification regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

EDUCATION:
Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
• *Recent experience in application development and maintenance
• *Recent experience in application programming utilizing one or more of the following corporately scalable database products such as Oracle, DB2, SQL Server.
• *Recent experience in systems analysis and design including analysis and documentation of client requirements and technical functional specifications.
• *Recent experience in application debugging and testing.
• *Recent experience in client support of IT systems.

Definition:
* Recent experience is defined as having performed a broad range of various related duties full-time for a minimum of one (1) year within the last five (5) years.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

ASSET EXPERIENCE :
• ** Significant experience in application development with COBOL.
• **Significant experience in application development with CICS.
• ** Significant experience with XML and XML-related APIs.
• ** Significant experience in application development using JAVA within a development framework such as Struts, Spring MVC, JSF, Hibernate, EclipseLink, or MyBatis.
• ** Significant experience in application development using C++ or C# within a development framework such as .Net.
• ** Significant experience in application development with Peoplesoft and Peopletools.
• ** Significant experience in application development with ABAP and SAP.
• **Significant experience in application development with PowerBuilder.
• ** Significant experience with HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• ** Significant experience with Business Analysis including the creation and maintenance of functional specifications using a product such as DOORS/NG.
• *Recent experience with web-services such as SOAP, REST, and/or AJAX .
• *Recent experience with mainframe tools such as JCL, SPUFI, VIASOFT, and/or ISPF.

* Recent experience is defined as having performed a broad range of various related duties full-time for a minimum of one (1) year within the last five (5) years.
** Significant experience is understood to mean the depth and breadth of the experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of various, complex related activities associated with full-time performance of duties for a period of two (2) or more years.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - VARIOUS SECURITY CLEARANCES:
RCMP Enhanced Reliability security clearance, RCMP Secret security clearance, and RCMP Top Secret security clearance.
