We are located at Place Bell situated at 160 Elgin Street, an office complex in downtown Ottawa and next to the Rideau Canal and the Rideau Shopping Centre. This location offers easy access to restaurants, fitness facilities, walking/running paths and parks. The Public Prosecution Service of Canada Library is looking for an independent, innovative and tech-savvy Library Technician. Reporting to the Law Librarian, the Library Technician supports the creation and maintenance of a library portal and provides cataloguing, acquisition, interlibrary loan and circulation services to our offices across Canada. If you would like to develop a broad range of skills and knowledge in library and information science, this is the job for you.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established from this process and may be used to staff similar positions at Public Prosecution Service of Canada in the National Capital Region, with varying tenures (such as indeterminate and/or specified period) and with various linguistic profiles and requirements (such as bilingual imperative – BBB/BBB, CCC/CCC, and/or CBC/CBC) according to the position to be staffed.

Education:
• Successful completion of two years of a post-secondary program with acceptable specialization in library or archival work.
Experience:
• Experience in the cataloguing (original and derived) and classification of published material (print or online) according to AACR2R and LCSH.
• Experience in the cataloguing (original and derived) of published material (print or online) according to MARC standards.
• Experience providing acquisitions support in a library.
• Experience providing interlibrary loan services.
Asset Qualification - Experience:
• Experience providing library services in a law library.
• Experience using Sierra integrated library system.
• Experience using Government of Canada integrated financial systems.
Operational Requirements:
• Willingness and ability to work flexible hours.
Bilingual - Imperative (BBB/BBB)
