The Farm Operations Manager is responsible for the smooth running of the Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency’s Equine Drug Evaluation Centre (EDEC). The EDEC is a research facility that houses an average of 12 standardbred horses. You will organize and direct the delivery of services related to the day-to-day operation of the farm, plan and procure any required goods and services and supervise staff and contractors directly responsible for the care and welfare of the horses and care of the facility and grounds.
The work location for this position is in Jerseyville, Ontario.

Successful completion of secondary school.
Experience in the operation and maintenance of a livestock or horse boarding facility, including direct supervision of personnel and budget management.
Experience in the preparation of documents, records and inventories related to farm operations.
Experience in the use of e-mail, word processing, and spreadsheet software applications.
Experience in the handling and care of horses.
Experience in the operation of various types of farm machinery.
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization related to the field of Agriculture or animal health.
First Aid certificate.
Experience in the operation and maintenance of a Government of Canada animal research facility.
Experience administering oral, inhaled and/or topical medications to horses.
Experience collecting and/or handling equine blood and/or urine samples.
English essential
