The Indigenous Affairs team in the Strategic Policy Branch is seeking a passionate, interested and motivated Team Leader, Policy Analysis, to support us in the Atlantic and Quebec Regions. Duties include, but are not limited to, supervising a team, participating in land claims negotiations within the federal negotiating team, assisting in the coordination of federal government activities concerning Atlantic Indigenous activities in collaboration with other federal departments, fostering the development and maintenance of effective relationships with Indigenous organizations in the Atlantic region and advising regional branches on activities related to Indigenous matters.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar permanent and/or temporary positions.

EDUCATION
(ED1) Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.
Note: Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE
(EX1) Significant* and recent* experience in managing the activities of a work unit, as well as in managing human and financial resources in a regional organization.
(EX2) Experience in building partnerships or working with various stakeholders including Indigenous groups, governments and non governmental organizations.
(EX3) Experience in providing advice, guidance and strategic recommendations to senior executives.
(EX4) Experience in managing projects.
(EX5) Experience in conducting multilateral and multisectoral working groups or committees.
*Significant experience is defined as a minimum experience of four consecutive years.
** Recent experience is defined as experience acquired within the last six years.
EXPERIENCE
(AEX1) Experience in negotiating with Indigenous groups.
(AEX2) Experience in managing projects with Indigenous groups.

(K1) Knowledge of current and emerging issues relating to northern and Indigenous affairs, as well as to the environment, on a regional, national and international scale.
(K2) Knowledge of the Department’s organization, legislation, policies, programs, objectives and priorities.
(K3) Knowledge of principles related to negotiations and consultations on complex issues relating to environmental problems.
(K4) Knowledge of stakeholders in the Atlantic region in the field of the environment and Indigenous.
