OSFI’s Federally Regulated Financial Institutions (FRFI) Data Management Division is seeking two highly motivated individuals to join their team in the role of Business Analyst, FRFI & PPP Data Management. In support of OSFI’s mandate and strategic objectives, the Division is responsible for the effective management of the data collected by OSFI from federally regulated financial institutions (FRFIs) and private pension plans (PPPs) in support of Supervision, Regulation and external partners. The successful candidate will work in partnership with the business units in the Supervision and Regulation sectors to identify critical business issues related to the collection and management of data from federally regulated financial institutions (FRFIs), and private pension plans (PPPs), and to document these data requirements in support of the development of FRFI and pension data management solutions, both manual and automated.
Responsibilities include:
- Liaise with Supervision and Regulation sector business units to analyse and identify their FRFI and pension data requirements and develop solutions to optimize OSFI’s cross-sector FRFI data collection processes.
- Provide day-to-day direction/assistance to users in understanding the FRFI and pensions data, associated processes and tools, FRFI & PPP data governance and data management best practices.
- Manage multiple FRFI and pension data requests from internal and external sources, often with conflicting or non-integrated needs and responsibilities.
- Provide an interface between business clients and IM/IT and represent business’ consolidated FRFI and pension plan data requirements.
- Provide users of OSFI’s Business Intelligence (BI) tools with functional support including assistance with self-service reporting and providing business expertise as needed to IM/IT to implement BI change requests.
The immediate need is to staff two positions with a language requirement of English Essential for a 2-year term.
This selection process may be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates, which could be used to staff similar or identical positions with various linguistic profiles and requirements, security profiles and various tenures.

EDUCATION
- A university degree specializing in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, Business, or Accounting or any specialization relevant to the duties to be performed.
EXPERIENCE
Significant experience working collaboratively with business partners to understand, analyse and articulate data requirements and recommend solutions, gained while working in the financial services industry*.
Significant experience in one or more of the following:
- Gathering and defining business intelligence reporting requirements
- A super user assisting others in the use of business intelligence tools.
- Gathering and defining requirements for financial industry regulatory reporting.
- Gathering and defining requirements for financial risk management related reporting systems.
Significant experience in working in a client-service environment.
* Financial services industry” refers to banking, insurance or pension plan operations or regulation.
Significant is approximately three years
EDUCATION
- Professional designation or certification in an area relevant to the position to be staffed such as in Business Analysis, Data Analysis, Data Management, Business Intelligence, Accounting, Auditing or Project Management.
EXPERIENCE
- Experience working with Cognos Business Intelligence Tools.

As a Separate Agency, the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) appoints employees in accordance with the Public Service Employment Act (PSEA). OSFI is named in Schedule V of the Financial Administration Act (FAA) and it offers the same pension and benefits plans as the core Federal Public Service.
