Duties

Technical and Maintenance Services provides internal consulting services to sectors within Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) for the maintenance and repair of systems (including elevators, sprinklers, furnaces, electrical systems, etc.) and buildings in order to ensure their efficiency, maintain their integrity, and to ensure compliance to federal laws, standards and codes.

The main duties of the position include:
- Inspection of various electrical systems in buildings
- Costing for replacement of electrical components
- Production of technical reports
- Drawings and specifications reviews for minor projects
- Preparation of drawings and specifications for minor projects (occasionally)

Intent of the process

This process will be used to staff one position on a two-year basis (renewable) by October 2018.

A pool may be established in order to staff identical or similar positions within PSPC whose duration, linguistic profile, location, and/or security requirements could vary depending on the position to be staffed.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

You must have a secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives.

Degree equivalency

You must also possess the following recent* experience:
1) delivering technical advice on issues concerning electrical building systems
2) conducting technical surveys of electrical systems and recommending any necessary corrective measures.

*Recent means approximately three years within the last five.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

The criteria in this section are not essential, but preference may be given to candidates who possess one or many of them.

Successful completion of a two (2) year post-secondary diploma program as an electrical/electronic technician, in building systems technology or in another related field from a recognized Canadian education institution.

College diploma or attestation from a recognized Canadian education institution in electrical or electronic engineering technology, in building system technology or in a field relevant to the position

Diploma of vocational studies in electricity

Degree equivalency

Design experience in building electrical systems

Be willing and able to work overtime on short notice
Be able and willing to travel to remote locations
Hold a valid driver’s licence

A written exam will be administered to evaluate the following criteria:
Knowledge of the codes governing electricity in buildings
Knowledge of concepts related to electrical installations found in buildings

Demonstrating integrity and respect
