Anticipatory staffing

Although the immediate intent of this Job Opportunity Advertisement is to staff on a determinate basis, applicants should be aware that a pool of qualified candidates (fully assessed or partially assessed) may be established and may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level with various language requirements listed in the Language Requirements section. In addition, this process may be used for various tenures (acting appointments, assignment, deployment, indeterminate, specified period, secondment), security requirements and conditions of employment within the Public Health Agency of Canada. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education for Streams 1(Analyst/Reseacher ) and 2(Policy Analyst) :

Education

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.

And

Master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Social or Health Sciences or a field related to the position.

NOTE: Candidates must always hold a Bachelor’s degree. Specialization courses do not necessarily have to form part of the study program in which the degree was obtained. The specialization can also have been obtained through a variety of studies, training and/or experience.

If your bachelor's degree is not in Economics, Sociology or Statistics, you will have to clearly list the university or equivalent courses that you have taken in at least one of the three relevant areas of specialization.

Degree equivalency

Experience for Streams 1 and 2 :

Significant* experience in researching, analyzing, synthesizing and interpreting public health issues or data to provide recommendations and produce documents;
Significant* experience in developing and maintaining collaborative relations with partners and stakeholders of various sectors, in link to heath domain.
Experience in planning and coordinating projects;

Additional Experience specific to Stream 1 (Analyst/Researcher) :

Significant experience in knowledge transfer and exchange planning, development and application also known as “Knowledge mobilization” or “Knowledge application” ;
Significant experience in qualitative or quantitative data methods and tools application, including using the following software’s specifically Excel, SPSS or SAS or NVIVO, or equivalents to perform data analysis.

Note : Significant experience is understood to mean the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of various, complex related activities leading to tangible achievements. The amount, the complexity and the diversity of activities, as well as the autonomy level will also be taken into consideration.

Knowledge of public health responsibilities, priority/issues and main public health organizations at the federal level and Quebec provincial level.

Additional Abilities specific to Stream 1 (Analyst/Research) :
