Duties

The work requires making group presentations to clients to inform them of their rights, obligations and responsibilities specific to the type of benefits the client is receiving. Also providing information in a group setting regarding the various programs and/or services the Department has in place as they relate to sanctions for fraud and abuse. There is a need to maintain an on-going professional working relationship to understand client needs yet ensure that the integrity of the Department’s programs and/or services remain intact.

Strong listening and verbal communication skills are required to obtain and exchange information with colleagues and clients and to deliver presentations to groups.

The position involves conducting thorough fact-finding interviews with clients and employers to verify facts, detect fraud, misuse or abuse of the Department's programs and making decisions within clearly established procedures.

Applies provisions of related sections of legislation and established jurisprudence, within the provisions of the delegation instrument. Make decisions on non-complex cases within clearly established procedures and guidelines. Refers complex casework, with appropriate recommendations, to other levels of decision-makers to determine a client's entitlement to program benefits administered by the Department.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to create a pool of qualified candidates to staff positions within Integrity Services Branch. This pool could also be used to staff similar positions of various tenures, at various locations within Employment and Social Development Canada, Western Canada and Territories Region.

In order to manage the number of applications in this selection process, management may apply top down and/or random selection at any stage throughout the process.

Random selection among applications may be made. Randomly selected applicants may be assessed and those who meet all the essential qualifications will be placed in the qualified pool. Subsequent random selections from the remaining inventory and assessments may be conducted at a later date, and qualified candidates will be added to the same pool to fill future vacancies.

Other qualifications may also be applied at any stage throughout the process.
