Some of the key duties include:

•Provides strategic advice and recommendations concerning the organization’s programs, policies, strategic directions and corporate issues, including ATIP issues. (AS-04)
•Carries out research of files; identifies and reviews case precedent/legal opinions, legislation, policies, guidelines and positions taken by Information or Privacy Commissioners; recommends the appropriate course of action; and prepares responses/reports and recommendations accordingly. (AS-04)

•Acts as focal point, with respect to the handling and management of operational issues requiring immediate attention, including emergencies and pressures relating to the briefing notes, question period, parliamentary enquiries, requests for access to information, media calls and critical incidents, investigates same, performs analysis functions and provides recommendations to assist senior managers and directors in delivering effective responses. •Identifies and recommends opportunities to harmonize and streamline business processes to enhance service delivery; consult with senior management and other stakeholders to develop and present options and proposals and provides expertise in the resolution of issues. (AS-05)

Intent of the process

The intent of this appointment process is to staff various positions at various levels within the Pay Administration Branch of PSPC. Pools of partially qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions with various linguistic profiles and various security requirements within Public Services and Procurement Canada.
