Intent of the process

This is an anticipatory process. The intent of this selection process is to create a pool of qualified candidates to be used to staff these or similar or lower level positions within Fisheries and Oceans Canada. A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff these positions and/or similar or lower level positions on an indeterminate or specified period (term)

Education
Successful completion of two years of a program from a recognized post-secondary institution or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

(Acceptable combination of education, training and experience means the completion of a minimum of 1 year post-secondary and 5 years’ training and/or experience.)

Degree equivalency

Experience
• Recent experience in providing input or advice to management or clients
• Recent experience in gathering, analysing and interpreting information or data, and producing reports
• Recent experience providing policy or procedural advice to clients or management

(Recent means within the past five years)

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Education
• Graduation with a degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in Computer Science, Geographical Information Systems, Information Management, Mathematics, Statistics, Criminology, Paralegal, or in any other field relevant to the work to be performed.

Degree equivalency

Experience
• Experience in developing and analysing budget related reports
• Experience in purchasing and inventory tracking
• Experience in analysing and development of policies and regulations
• Experience in the development and delivery of training and /or delivering presentations
• Experience in preparing contracts
• Experience using fisheries related information systems (e.g.VMS/VUE, FEATS, DVS, CFIN, CATCH AND EFFORT, NLFIN, VTRACK, NAFO MCS) to review and analyse data or information related to the management of foreign and/or domestic fisheries.
• Experience reviewing and/or drafting documentation related to the management of fisheries.
• Experience in conducting data analysis using data processing software, spreadsheets or databases (e.g. MS Excel, Access or equivalent)
• Experience supervising staff including scheduling work for a team and monitoring progress against milestones.

Operational Requirements
• Willingness to travel occasionally within Canada or Internationally
• Valid Driver’s licence
• Willingness to occasionally work overtime
