The Canada Gazette Directorate is a team of 30 people, comprised of bilingual editors and proofreaders, desktop publishers, administrative and communication officers that are professional and passionate by their work, and dedicated to serving Canadians. The offices are located in a modern work environment situated in the heart of downtown Ottawa. The staff are equipped with the latest technology to perform their daily work.

The Canada Gazette has been the official newspaper of the Government of Canada since 1841. The content that is published in the Canada Gazette differs in each publication. In addition, frequency of issues varies: Part I is published every week, Part II, every second week and Part III is published 2 or 3 times a year.

Intent of the process

The intent is to fill an indeterminate position located in the region of Ottawa. A pool of partially qualified candidates will be established through this process to staff similar positions within Public Services and Procurement Canada with various tenures (determinate or indeterminate, acting, deployment, assignment or secondment). The pool can be used to staff positions with a bilingual imperative BBB/BBB profile and various security levels.

EXPERIENCES

• Significant and Recent* experience in using various publishing software such as Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat.

• Significant and Recent* experience working in a digital publication environment.

*Significant and recent is defined as the depth and breadth of experience associated with having performed a broad range of related activities for a continuous period of one (1) year in the last three (3) years.

EDUCATION

• Post-secondary diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field relevant to the position to be staffed

Degree equivalency

• Experience in graphic design
• Experience in web publishing working with HTML and XML languages
• Experience in coordinating the production of digital publication projects in a publication environment
• Experience in using Adobe InDesign in a digital publication environment
