We are currently looking for dynamic, dedicated, and innovative leaders to be part of the growing team of Information Management and Information Technology (IM/IT) professionals that will directly support our future vision. The IM/IT specific depth of extensive experience we are typically looking for from candidates would be that normally acquired over a period of seven or more years, within the last ten years.
You will be responsible to manage your own group’s operations, as well as some projects under your responsibility and will be accountable for your results. The manager’s main duties include planning, organizing and prioritizing workload, as well as direct and indirect supervision (including setting up performance expectations for own employees, evaluating performance, approving leave and schedules, recommending overtime, labour relations matters, etc.).
Also, you will be directly contributing to the IM/IT vision and direction through your leadership and strategic advice and will be asked to provide effort and cost estimates, as well as to optimize work and processes through creative thinking.

Immediate Needs: Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada has multiple Manager position vacancies (permanent) to staff in various IT/IM specializations in locations across Canada. The majority of positions will be staffed in Ottawa, Regina, or Winnipeg.
Qualified candidates will also be placed in a talent pool to be used for staffing similar permanent or temporary positions. The work location, language profile, and security clearance requirements may vary according to the position being staffed.
All federal organizations may use this selection process to appoint a qualified candidate to a similar position within their organization.

EDUCATION:
Successful completion of two (2) years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

It is a recognized educational institution (e.g., community college, CÉGEP or university) that determines if the courses taken by a candidate correspond to two years of a post-secondary program at the institution. It is the candidate’s responsibility to obtain the appropriate documentation from the recognized educational institution, and to provide this documentation.
Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience.

EXPERIENCE:

E2: Recent experience, within the last five years, in at least one or more of the following areas:
o IM/IT Planning

o Enterprise Architecture (Business, Data/Information, Technology/Infrastructure, Application and Security)
o IT Security
o Infrastructure & Operations

o Database and Data Administration
o Business Line Support
E3: Experience in an IM/IT leadership role, working with multi-disciplinary, cross-functional teams.
E4: Experience in human resource management and financial management.
E5: Experience in providing IM/IT advice, analysis and recommendations to senior management.
In addition to the above Essential Qualifications, there are other qualifications that could be an asset to possess for each distinct Manager position.
