Duties

The position is responsible for sector development and analysis within the food industry in Canada and provides support to address issues impacting the competitiveness of the food processing sector. Example activities would include:
1) updating and gathering market intelligence on the food processing sector
2) updating and preparing sectoral profiles;
3) developing analytical reports to inform policy decisions and senior management;
4) provide input to unit reviews funding and project requests and
5) providing support for meetings, events and projects.

Intent of the process

Immediate staffing need: 1 full time temporary position

A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used for similar permanent and temporary employment for the location indicated for this process.

In the event that an employee of the public service is qualified through this process, and there is a temporary need, he/she may be considered for acting, deployment, assignment or secondment opportunities.

Bachelor degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in business administration, food science or food engineering.

Degree equivalency

Experience working in the food processing industry in Canada for a minimum of one (1) year.

Experience developing and maintaining relationships with government, agencies, or industry partners in matters related to the food processing sector in Canada.

Experience analyzing issues and developing options and recommendations.

Experience in using computer software to prepare written documents, presentations and manipulate, analyze and present data.
