Work environment

This position is located in a law enforcement environment which includes regular contact with uniformed and armed police officers.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff four temporary positions. A qualified group of candidates may be identified and may be used to staff future vacancies (including similar positions, on a term or indeterminate basis, at full or part time hours) located in “E” Division Headquarters, Surrey, BC. Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for a period of one year and may be extended.

Please be advised that successful candidates who have accepted a term offer as a result of this process will not be considered for another term position in any other locations until they inform us of their availability one (1) month before the end of their term appointment. They will, however, be considered for an indeterminate appointment at their preferred work location(s) as identified on their application.

Candidates who have accepted an indeterminate offer as a result of this process will be removed from the qualified pool for future consideration.

Education:
A secondary school diploma OR employer-approved alternatives.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
1. Experience working in PRIME Records Management System.

2. Experience in providing client support (e.g. troubleshooting and resolving client inquiries/issues.)

3. Experience in using Microsoft Word.

4. Experience in using Microsoft Excel.

5. Experience in researching procedures.

Candidates will be required to provide supervisory references. Candidates who are unable to provide the requested references may be found not qualified should the selection board determine that they are unable to complete its assessment of the candidate.

For this selection process, our intention is to communicate with applicants by e-mail for screening/assessment purposes (including issuing screening results, and sending invitations for written tests and interviews). Applicants who apply to this selection process must include in their application a valid e-mail address and make sure this address is functional at all times and accepts messages from unknown users.

Successful candidates will have to obtain, as a minimum, an Enhanced Reliability Status security clearance prior to appointment and throughout the tenure of their employment. In some cases/positions, a Secret Security Clearance may also be required. The process to obtain a security clearance involves a security/reliability interview and a field investigation regarding matters of criminal activity which includes reference checks, verification of credit/financial status, education, employment, etc. As such, the process may take several weeks or months to complete.

Persons are entitled to participate in the appointment process in the official language of their choice. Applicants are asked to indicate their preferred official language in their application.

Candidates from outside the federal public service will be required to pay for their own travel and relocation expenses.
