Duties

The Director, Correctional Research is accountable to lead a range of long and short term research initiatives with a view to advancing and improving correctional management practices and programs across the Department which would include the objective of improving all correctional services programs including offender assessment technology, programming and management practices.

Education:
• A graduate degree (Master’s degree or Doctorate) in a social science discipline from a recognized university.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
• Experience providing social science expertise and leadership in the application and development of research-based knowledge in the field of criminal justice or a related area.

• Experience providing scientific advice and recommendations to government or other organizations.

• Experience in the development of research partnerships (government, non-government, academic, across jurisdictions).

• Experience in managing human and financial resources.
(Candidates should specify the number and type of staff they managed, and indicate the size of the budget they managed directly).

Asset Qualifications

Education:
• A Ph.D. in a social science discipline from a recognized university.

Experience:
• Experience publishing research papers in the field of social sciences.

• Experience developing technological solutions to operational challenges related to psychological assessment, data collection, measurement or operational information systems.

• Experience in the development of treatment programs.

• Experience in the development of assessment instruments, surveys, program research methodologies; and use of advanced multivariate statistical procedures, large administrative data sets and population statistics.

• Experience in supervising the research of students at the post-graduate level.

Operational Requirements:
• May be required to travel
