Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

NOTA: Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the CS group.

Degree equivalency

Recent* experience in providing technical advice and guidance to management or colleagues or clients as a subject matter expert in the support of IT Infrastructure operations.

Recent* and significant** experience in providing technical leadership in the support of IT Infrastructure operations.

Recent* and significant** experience in working on complex IT issues, making recommendations, and implementing new technologies.

Recent* experience in delivering services to clients in an IT environment.

University Degree in an IM/IT discipline.

Degree equivalency

Possession of one or more relevant professional certification that applies to an IM/IT position.

Recent* experience representing a team or sector at meetings with internal/external clients; vendors; committee; or working groups.

Recent* experience in preparing cost estimates for the purchase of components or services required for IT Infrastructure operations.

Significant** experience in the planning, delivery or maintenance of networking and telephony solutions in one or more of the following areas:
- fixed networking (LAN/MAN/WAN)
- mobile networking (3G/4G/LTE)
- telephony (IVR/VRS/ACD/VoIP) solutions.

Recent* and significant** experience in the operations of one or more of the following areas:
- fixed networking (LAN/MAN/WAN)
- mobile networking (3G/4G/LTE)
- telephony (IVR/VRS/ACD/VoIP) solutions.

Recent* and significant** experience supporting and maintaining IT networks.

Recent * experience engineering, provisioning, implementation or hardening of server systems.

Recent* and significant**experience architecting, engineering, designing of solutions and implementation of workplace technology.

*Recent is defined as an experience having been acquired within the last five (5) years

**Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with full-time performance of duties for a period of approximately two (2) years

Knowledge of Local Area Network (LAN), Metropolitan Area Network (MAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), and mobile networking (3G/4G/LTE) technologies and how they are applied to a geographically dispersed government of Canada department.

Knowledge of telephony and contact centre technologies including Interactive Voice Response (IVR), Voice Recognition System (VRS), Automated Call Distribution (ACD), and /or Voice over IP (VoIP).

Knowledge of processes in the Information Technology Information Library (ITIL).
