Intent of the process

We are currently seeking qualified men and women from a wide range of backgrounds.

* You must be fluent in either English OR French, including being able to speak, write, read and understand either official language. You do NOT need to be bilingual.

*A person's first official language is the official language, English or French, with which he/she has a primary personal identification, regardless of ethnic origin or mother tongue. This is also the official language in which the person is more proficient. An applicant shall not arbitrarily change his/her first official language. Such a change must be justified in writing and approved by the Regional Official Languages Coordinator.

* Given current operational needs, and the national and international role of the RCMP, a limited number of French troops will be filled with this process. In order to help you decide if you have the language ability to take the Cadet training in English and/or in French, an optional self-assessment of your reading and writing skills is recommended. All Cadets are required to have a minimum BBB level in order to undertake Cadet training in their second official language.

* If your application is selected, you may be invited for a second language evaluation or asked to provide valid Government of Canada SLE results.

You must have a minimum of a secondary school (high school) diploma. If your education was obtained outside Canada, you must get an equivalency assessment. This assessment is available through the Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials (www.cicic.ca).
