What is a Developmental Program?
Through the Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) Officers developmental program, managers recruit and develop qualified individuals interested in a career in the ATIP Secretariat with the Department of Natural Resources Canada. It is an entry-level program and participants are expected to complete a series of activities and training courses to develop their competencies as they progress in the Program. At the end of the Program, successful candidates are normally promoted to a Senior ATIP Advisor position (PM-04).

Successful candidates will be appointed into the Program at the PM-01 occupational group and level. Participants are required to complete all the assignments and training requirements defined for each developmental phase. Upon successful completion of each phase and demonstration of the competencies required to function at the next level, they will be promoted to the next level of the Program.

The program length varies according to individual competencies and progression but is approximately four to six years from the point that the participant is hired to completion of the development.

The positions to be staffed are located in Ottawa (Ontario). When submitting your application, you will be invited to take an on-line reasoning test. Applicants with the higher scores will then be invited to do a second supervised test, held in one of the following locations: Vancouver, Toronto, Gatineau, Montreal and Halifax, whichever is the closest to their homes. It is your responsibility to make yourself available on the date and at the location of the test.

ALL CANDIDATES WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY FOR TRAVEL COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH EXAMINATION DURING THIS SELECTION PROCESS. No reimbursement will be made by the department.
