The RCMP's National Division is looking to fill a management position (AS-05) in it's Strategic Planning Unit. This individual will play a fundamental role in developing, supporting and guiding the implementation of the Division's overall strategic objectives and initiatives.

We are looking for an individual who is innovative and who can work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders to advance our strategic objectives. The ideal candidate is a proven leader, a strategic thinker and an excellent communicator who is excited about taking on new challenges and continually strives to find opportunities for engagement, empowerment and improvement.

Intent of the process

The intent of this selection process is to staff one (1) bilingual imperative BBB/BBB indeterminate position with the Strategic Planning Unit within National Division. The position is located at 155 McArthur Ave., Ottawa, Ontario.

A pool of qualified candidates MAY be established to staff similar positions.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.

Two years post-secondary studies and/or equivalent work experience

Degree equivalency

Recent * and significant ** experience in developing, consolidating and analyzing strategic planning and reporting processes and monitoring implementation strategies

Recent* and significant** experience in providing strategic advice and guidance to senior management on various organizational and administrative requirements

Recent* and significant** experience in conducting research, developing and drafting documents for senior management, such as briefing notes, presentations, reports, action plans or corporate responses

Recent* and significant** experience in the analysis of complex*** issues and the development of strategic options for senior management

Recent* experience in supervision

*Recent experience is defined as the performance of these duties over the last five (5) years preceding the closing date of the advertised process.

** Significant experience is defined as the scope of experience related to the achievement of a great number of complex activities at the level of responsibility that a person usually has when working in the field for at least two (2) years (24 months).

*** Complex issues are defined as issues that would include at least two of the following characteristics: having high visibility (e.g. attracting the attention of the media or the public); involving several internal and/or external stakeholders; being of multi-jurisdictional scope; requiring involvement of third party interests; requiring multiple consultations; having a high impact.

Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as: business, public administration, social science, economics, and/or political science

Conditions of employment

RCMP Top Secret security clearance

The successful candidate will have to obtain and maintain an RCMP Security Clearance. This process requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of criminal activities, credit/finances, education, employment, references, etc.
