• Examines and analyses actuarial certifications of methodologies for rate-making, assessment of self-sustainability and determination of probable yields for Federal approval and recommended changes.
• Assesses the self-sustainability of provincial crop insurance programs.
• Reviews rate-making and probable yield methodologies and makes recommendation on improvements.
• Prepares probable yield tests, analyses those submitted by provincial Crop Insurance agencies and recommends follow-up.
• Develops guidelines for actuarial certifications of crop insurance programs.
• Programs ratemaking and probable yield softwares.
• Develops and maintains Federal-Provincial reinsurance ratemaking models.
• First point of contact for actuarial questions and issues with provinces.
• Performs actuarial audits.
• Drafts approval letter for plan proposal and actuarial certifications.
• Assesses provincial plan proposals against the Farm Income Protection Act, Canada
Production Insurance Regulations and actuarial guidelines.
• Manages large database and performs actuarial analysis.
• Provides actuarial support in policy development.

As an integral part of a dynamic and motivated team, the Actuarial Analyst would be provided with an opportunity to be exposed to multiple priority files covering the breadth and depth of agriculture and agri-food related programming and policies, including Business Risk Management.
In addition, as an Actuarial Analyst, the incumbent would be provided with the opportunity to gain experience in Federal / Provincial / Territorial relations; program design, implementation and delivery; strategic policy; industry relations and liaisons; senior management briefing, report writing, data analysis, and in many other areas.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used for similar permanent and temporary employment for the location indicated for this process.

Graduation with a degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution in actuarial science or in mathematics with specialized actuarial courses and Successful completion/credit of a minimum of two Society of Actuaries or Casualty Actuarial Society examinations.

*Recent experience in property and casualty insurance or recent experience in enforcing regulations in a regulatory role.
Experience using common word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and database software (i.e. MS Word/Word Perfect, Outlook, Excel).

ASSETS EDUCATION:
Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a masters or post-doctoral degree in mathematics or actuarial science.
Completion/credit of a more than two (2) Society of Actuaries or Casualty Actuarial Society examinations.
ASSET EXPERIENCE:
*Recent experience in agricultural insurance.
*Recent experience in an actuarial field unrelated to agricultural insurance which could be transferred to the agricultural insurance sector.
*Recent experience in actuarial and statistical analysis, research, reporting, etc.
*Recent experience in a regulatory environment.
*Recent experience in interpreting and applying Regulations and guidelines.
*Recent experience in database management and statistical analysis.
*Recent experience is defined as experience acquired within the last two (2) years.
