Elections Canada’s social media team is looking for two highly motivated, digitally savvy candidates to help us implement our social media strategy and operational plans for the next general election in 2019. As we lead-up to the election, our pace will accelerate, with opportunities for overtime work. Most of the time, we work regular hours and offer great work/life balance. Intent of the process

The intent of the process is to establish a pool of fully or partially qualified candidates. The pool may be used to staff similar positions within Elections Canada with various tenures (specified periods or indeterminate) and various bilingual needs (profiles such as BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC or CCC/CCC).

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or an *acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

*Definition of acceptable combination: A minimum of two (2) post-secondary communications courses or training and at least 3 years of experience in a communications-focused position and at least one year of experience in a position focused on managing, monitoring or developing proactive or responsive content for corporate social media accounts within the last three years.

Based on their education, training and/or experience, indeterminate incumbents of positions in the IS classification are deemed to meet the minimum education standard whenever a bachelor’s degree without specialization is called for in a position classified as IS.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
Experience working on communications products within a communications-related office in at least two of the following: proactive or reactive social media messages, communications plans, digital advertising, video scripts, web pages, presentations, infographics or briefing notes.
Experience in providing communications advice and recommendations to clients or management.
Experience in researching and responding to enquiries in any of the following: general public; internal stakeholders; or, external stakeholders.
Experience assisting in the development, implementation or evaluation of communications plans with a focus on new, digital or social media.
Experience managing or monitoring social media for an organization, including account activity or hashtags or posting of proactive messages or replies to inbound questions.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE
Experience in planning, developing, maintaining or coordinating the delivery of social media communications programs or strategies.
Experience using social media tools, such as HootSuite Enterprise, for producing reports or analyses on social media account performance, trends or activities.
Experience working with service providers such as: graphic designers; linguists; communications consultants or strategists.
Experience in developing designs for digital communications products such as (but not limited to): gifs, infographics, e-newsletters, graphics for social media, or videos.
Experience producing reports on social media account activity.

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of Elections Canada’s mandate

Conditions of employment

Must be willing to work overtime during federal electoral events or as needed.
