EDUCATION

Notes:
1. Based on their education, training and/or experience, indeterminate incumbents of positions in the IS classification are deemed to meet the minimum education standard whenever a bachelor’s degree without specialization is called for in a position classified as IS.
2. At the manager’s discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, may serve as an alternative to the minimum education standard.
EXPERIENCE
- Recent* experience working in one or more of the following fields: marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, public affairs, advertising, digital media, or technical writing.
- Recent* experience in writing and carrying out communications plans.
- Recent* experience in developing communications products, including any three of the following: news releases, media lines, Qs&As, fact sheets, backgrounders, website content, media advisories, social media content, opinion editorials, speaking notes / speeches, scripts, promotional products, newsletters, reports or memoranda, articles/messages to staff, or event scenarios.
- Experience in providing strategic communications advice and guidance to clients.
*Recent experience is a considered to be in the past three (3) years.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
- A degree with a specialization in a relevant area, including such fields as marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, public affairs, advertising, media studies, digital media, or technical writing.
- Experience working in a transportation related field or regulatory environment.
- Experience supporting ministerial events and/or corporate announcements.
- Experience planning and implementing internal communications projects and/or events.
- Experience preparing media responses and coordinating media requests.
- Experience as spokesperson to the media.
- Experience in planning and managing media or internal events.
- Experience working with social media.
- Experience in developing, tracking and analyzing key performance indicators related to communications and marketing initiatives.
- Experience in crisis communications.
