Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with acceptable specialization in Economics or Statistics.
Note: Candidates must always have a university degree. The courses for the specialization do not necessarily have to be part of a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training or experience.
Significant* experience conducting complex*** economic analyses, such as cost-benefit, cost recovery and impact analyses.
Significant* experience providing senior management** with timely qualitative and quantitative economic advice on complex*** issues.
Significant* experience developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
*Significant is defined as experience typically acquired over a period of at least two (2) years.
** Senior Management is defined as Director General-level or equivalent and above.
*** Complex is defined as being more challenging due its scope, topic, or the requirement for sophisticated analytical techniques.
Knowledge of advanced quantitative and qualitative techniques.
Knowledge of key economic issues concerning fisheries and oceans in Canada

Graduation from a recognized University with a Master’s Degree or a Ph.D. in Economics or Statistics
Experience extracting, interpreting and analyzing large quantities of data.
Experience providing economic advice to support policy or regulatory initiatives in a natural resources environment.
Experience in econometric analysis and/or empirical economic modeling.
Willingness and ability to work overtime on short notice.
Willingness and ability to travel on occasion.
