The intent is to staff the position in Toronto. A pool may be established as a result of this process and may be used to fill similar positions with various tenures, and security profiles at the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario).
In the Federal Public Service, Senior Management is referred to as the Executive group. This group is divided into five levels from EX-01 to EX-05. This advertisement is for a position at the EX-01 group and level.

Your résumé.
A covering letter in 2,500 words (maximum) "NOTE: It is the responsibility of the candidate to submit a cover letter, which clearly outlines how they meet each of the screening criteria (i.e. Education and Experience Qualifications). Please note that it is not sufficient to only state that the requirement is met or to provide a listing of current responsibilities, rather the candidate must provide concrete examples that illustrate how they meet the requirement. One suitable approach is to use each screening criteria as a heading, and provide a description outlining how that criteria is met. Describe the situation/task, the action you took, what you accomplished and/or what you learned. Also, indicate in which organization, the period (months and years) during which you acquired this experience. The information in your cover letter must be supported in your resume, which MAY be used as a secondary source to validate the information provided in the cover letter. Failure to provide an appropriate cover letter could result in the application being rejected from the process. Candidates will not be solicited for incomplete or possible missing information."
ED: Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution
EX1: Experience developing and maintaining partnerships and relationships with a variety of stakeholders such as government, the private sector and not-for-profit organizations
EX2: Recent* experience managing human resources** including direct supervision of employees and teams
EX3: Experience managing financial resources*** including direct responsibility for budgets
EX4: Experience delivering information or services to external clients through different modes of communication
EX5: Recent and significant experience in providing strategic advice to senior/executive level management officials, or Boards of Directors on complex* issues (*Complex matters are those with at least three (3) of the following characteristics: multidimensional, highly sensitive, affecting many partners or stakeholders, precedent-setting, having a major impact on service or program delivery, in fulfilment of organizational/ government/ company priorities).
* Recent means within approximately the past three (3) years.
** Human resources management is defined as applicants clearly demonstrating that they have supervised employees, assigned work, managed and assessed performance for a period of at least two (2) fiscal years and developed staffing plans and completed staffing processes. Applicants must indicate the number of staff they have supervised. Supervising students, casuals and/or consultants would not meet this merit criterion.
*** Financial management is defined as applicants showing evidence of managing a budget. This experience is defined as being responsible for applying sound financial planning, forecasting and reporting. Applicants must also indicate the size and scope of the budget they managed.
Asset Qualifications:
Asset qualifications may be taken into consideration when selecting candidates for appointment. If candidates meet any or all of the asset criteria, they should address them in their cover letter by providing concrete examples.
AED: Masters or other graduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution
AEX1: Experience working on business development or entrepreneurship programs
AEX2: Experience managing an operational team in a high transactional environment such as a call centre
AEX3: Experience in managing procurement contracting
Bilingual - Imperative (CBC/CBC)
