The Supervision Sector is seeking to fill a Financial Analyst position in the Risk Surveillance & Analytics Division (“RSA”). This position will be responsible for the identification and analysis of emerging risks in the financial services industry, which impact institutions regulated by OSFI. The successful candidate will work with a team involved in risk identification, measurement, analysis and reporting of emerging risks. This resource will help meet the ongoing needs for analytical resources for risk analysis that will support our Supervisory teams and Regulation/Policy initiatives.
This selection process may be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates, which could be used to staff similar or identical positions with various linguistic profiles and requirements, security profiles and various tenures.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
● Recent and significant experience in the financial services industry*in Financial Analysis, Risk Management, or in the regulation of financial institutions.
● Recent experience in assessing risk management practices and/or identifying key risk areas in institutions.
● Experience in leading review and/or project teams.
*Financial services industry experience is defined as experience working in a financial institution, including banks, insurance companies, pension funds, wealth management firms, and accounting firms (dealing with audits), as well as government departments that directly deal with the supervision and regulation of these institutions, or other relevant areas.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
● A university degree with specialization in accounting, business, commerce, economics, mathematics or other relevant degree OR an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

● Knowledge of financial statement analysis, accounting concepts and key performance/early-warning indicators within the financial services industry.

● Experience with financial models, interpreting results, conducting “what-if” scenario analysis and forecasting.
● Experience in the use of large databases, along with expertise in data extraction and analysis.
ASSET KNOWLEDGE
● Knowledge of OSFI’s Supervisory Framework, specifically as it relates to monitoring and the identification of inherent risks, credit quality and stress testing.
● Knowledge of key developments in the financial services industry such as the impact(s) of innovative technology on financial services.
● Knowledge of tools such as Bloomberg and/or Haver.
● Knowledge of risk committee and/or organizational risk aggregation/management processes.
