The Circular Bioeconomy and Supply Chain Economics unit is part of the Economic Analysis Division (EAD) at the Canadian Forest Service (CFS). Our unit provides economic and policy analysis and advice on bioeconomy and bioenergy developments and opportunities. We collaborate with several other divisions in the CFS, as well as with Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) research centers.
We are seeking for a graduate student to contribute to modeling and forest sector analysis. Duties and responsibilities for the position are:
- Conduct a literature review on the life cycle asssessment (LCA) of forest bioenergy systems.
- Model the life cycle of forest bioenergy sytems for the Canadian context, using LCA software, in accordance with relevant standards and the Clean Fuel Standard regulatory framework.
- Identify conditions under which wood-based biofuels provide the most environmental benefits when compared to fossil fuels.

Experience using at least one life cycle assessment (LCA) software (such as SimaPro or OpenLCA).
Experience adapting or developing life cycle inventory (LCI) data.
Experience conducting LCA and interpreting LCA results.
English or French
