Work environment

Tired of having an irregular work schedule? Not wanting to work away from your family? Do you want to work for the RCMP but not within an office environment?

The RCMP is looking for a General Labourer at the Police Dog Service Training Centre located in Innisfail, Alberta. The selected candidate will
• provide general labour service,
• perform routine equipment repair and maintenance,
• provide custodial services and
• grounds maintenance services.

Start with 3 weeks of holidays and statutory holidays you may not get anywhere else and the stability of knowing work will not "dry up".

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff one (1) indeterminate position in Innisfail, Alberta

A pool of qualified candidates may be established and used to future permanent and/or temporary vacancies.

A response to a text question addressing the following:

  • In 250 words or less, describe the skills and abilities that you possess that make you the best candidate for the job.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

• Experience in a construction related environment.

• Experience in maintenance and/or minor repair of buildings.

• Experience in doing minor maintenance of equipment, such as tractors, mowers, bobcats, etc.

• Experience using power tools.

• Experience in custodial duties

• Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

• Knowledge of practices related to maintenance or minor repairs of equipment.
• Knowledge of basic grounds maintenance

Experience providing general labour or building maintenance services within an institutional setting.

Experience working with or apprenticing in any of the journeyman trades.

Willingness and ability to work overtime, as required.
Willingness and ability to work varying shifts to meet assigned duties

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status (ERS) security clearance.
Those selected must meet and maintain the above condition of employment throughout their employment.

» » The successful applicant will have to obtain, as a minimum, an RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status (ERS). The process requires a Security/Reliability Interview and a field investigation in matters of credit/finances, education, employment, references, etc.

Willingness and ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 kg.
Willingness and ability to be exposed daily to chemicals, fumes, garbage, dirt, insects, dust and variations in weather conditions.
Willingness and ability to wear personal protective equipment.
Willingness and ability to be exposed to loud noises (including barking dogs, power tools and motorized equipment.)
Possession of a valid Class 5 driver’s license, and an acceptable driver’s abstract.
