Intent of the process

There is an immediate need to staff one (1) indeterminate position in Borden, Ontario. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions.

EDUCATION:

Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

EX1: Significant* experience in the maintenance, inspection and repair of Armoured Fighting Vehicles or standard military pattern vehicles, both tracked and wheeled.

EX2: Significant* experience in the maintenance, inspection and repair of one or more of the following is required:

A. Gas and diesel engines and components (e.g. gas and diesel fuel injection systems, etc.)

B. A variety of diverse Heavy Duty Equipment such as but not limited to equipment from Caterpillar, Volvo, Case, etc.

C. Automotive systems and components such as brakes, transmissions, chassis, powertrain, hydraulics and electrical.

EX3: Experience in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel
and Outlook.

* Significant is defined as 7 years of consecutive experience

ABILITIES:

A1: Ability to communicate effectively orally.

A2: Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

A3: Ability to deliver formal classroom training

OC1: Possession of a valid 310T Truck and Coach Technician license OR Interprovincial Journeyperson Certificates equivalent to the 310T Truck and Coach Technician license

OC2: 310S Automotive Service Technician license OR Interprovincial Journeyperson Certificates equivalent to the 310S Automotive Service Technician license.

OC3: 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician license OR Interprovincial Journeyperson Certificates equivalent to the 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician license.

OC4: Qualified Vehicle Technician DP 2 or QL 5, or higher

AQ1: Experience teaching in an adult educational environment.

AQ2: Experience teaching in a military school or training centre.

ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS:

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

OR1: May be required to work in a field environment.

Conditions of employment

Secret security clearance

• Required to stand for lengthy periods of time while instructing/training and move a variety of training aids some of which can be heavy (i.e. automotive parts, test equipment, large tools.
• Willing and able to climb on, under and inside vehicles and equipment when demonstrating techniques.
• Willing and able to instruct in a workshop environment.
• Must possess valid and unrestricted driver’s license issued by the Province of Ontario for Class “G” vehicles.
• Must be eligible and willing to obtain and maintain Departmental Driver’s Licence (DND 404)
• Must wear and utilize Personal Protective Equipment
