Work environment

The First Nations and Inuit Health Branch supports the delivery of public health care and health promotion services on reserve and in Inuit communities. It also provides drug, dental and ancillary health services to First Nations and Inuit people regardless of residence.

Indigenous Services Canada, First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB), is recruiting a Public Health and Primary Care Program Integrity Coordinator (NU CHN 05) to join our dynamic Regional Nursing Team located at the Regional Office, Canada Place, Edmonton. The NU CHN 05 provides advice, assistance and guidance to First Nations communities in matters related to nursing service provision as well as health funding agreements.

COMMUNITY DESCRIPTION

The Regional Office is located in downtown Edmonton and is within easy access of St Albert, Leduc and Fort Saskatchewan. Edmonton is Alberta’s capital city and in 2017 had a population of 1,322,000 making it the province’s second largest city.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

The Public Health and Primary Care Program Integrity Coordinator will provide support, leadership, advice and direction to nurses in transferred First Nation communities. In addition to assisting with the development, implementation and evaluation of nursing programs, this position will manage financial resources for the communities through the administration of Health Funding Arrangements.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in nursing.

Degree equivalency

Eligibility for registration as a registered nurse in a province or territory of Canada.

Recent and significant* experience as a Registered Nurse in Community Health [which includes Primary Care, Community/Public Health, and/or Home Care].

Experience managing health programs and/or services.

Experience working with and/or building partnerships with health organizations.

Experience using Excel programs.

*Recent and significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with a minimum period of 3 year worked consecutively within the last 5 years.

A Master’s Degree in Nursing or a field related to health, such as Community or Health Development or Health Administration/Leadership from a Canadian University or a recognized equivalent.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Continuous professional registration in good standing with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta.
