Intent of the process

This process is to staff the one position on a temporary basis and one position on an indeterminate basis and it may also be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates which could be used to staff similar or identical positions with various linguistic profiles, security profiles and various tenures within Library and Archives Canada.

EDUCATION

Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

Experience (more than 1 year) in a museum workshop or in a wood workshop.

Experience in the fabrication, modification or repair of exhibition frames, crates or furniture.

Experience in the installation of artefacts or works of art in a professional environment.

Information on language requirements

KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of the practices for the preparation, mounting and installation of artefacts for exhibition purposes.

Knowledge of the use of tools and materials for mounting and exhibiting artefacts.

ABILITIES

Ability to communicate orally
Ability to communicate in writing
Ability to use desktop software, such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
Ability to interprete plans and drawings.
Ability to plan and organise small exhibition projects.

ASSET EDUCATION

Diploma in cabinetmaking, carpentry or in a field related to the position.

Degree equivalency

ASSET EXPERIENCE

Recent work experience* in an art gallery, a museum or a documentary heritage institution

*By recent work experience we refer to the past 3 years.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENT

Lift operator license
