Intent of the process

The immediate result of this process is to fill one bilingual position for an indeterminate vacancy in Borden, Ontario. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions with varying tenures and linguistic profiles in Borden.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
ED1: Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management, or another specialty relevant to the position; or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
EX1: Experience installing, configuring, and repairing personal computer systems in a network environment.
EX2: Experience installing and configuring Windows XP, Windows 7 or Windows 10 Operating Systems.
EX3: Experience configuring MS Office 2003, 2010 or 2013 Suite.
EX4: Experience in the delivery of computer desktop support services to clients in a corporate network environment.
*** Minimum acceptable experience is 8 months within the previous 5 years for each of the above elements.

KNOWLEDGE:
K1: Knowledge of personal computer systems in a network environment.
K2: Knowledge of Local Area Networks.
K3: Knowledge of the installation and configuration of Windows XP and Windows 7 Professional Operating Systems.
K4: Knowledge of the configuration of the MS Office 2010 or 2013 Suite and Internet Explorer.

ABILITIES:
AS1: Ability to install, configure and repair networked personal computer systems.
AS2: Ability to install and configure personal computer operating system software.
AS3: Ability to configure application software.
AS4: Ability to communicate, orally and in writing.
AS5: Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 kgs in accordance with general safety practices.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three-year diploma in computer programming/analyst, information systems support or another specialty relevant to the position.
- CompTIA A+ Certification.
- CompTIA Network+ Certification.
- Knowledge of wireless networking.
- Knowledge of basic telecommunications theory and practices.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Candidates may be required to work overtime on weekends from time to time.
- Must be willing to wear protective footwear.
- Successfully complete department administered written and practical driver’s test to obtain DND 404 (Military Drivers Permit).

Conditions of employment

- Reliability security clearance.
- Candidate must hold a valid Province of Ontario Class “G” Drivers License. Drivers abstract must be provided prior to employment.
- Candidate at management’s discretion must accept deployments between identical IMSS positions at Borden in order to meet operational requirements.
- Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 kgs in accordance with general safety practices
- Candidates must meet and maintain the above conditions of employment throughout their employment.
