Intent of the process

The results of this competition may be used to staff similar term positions within Innovation Science and Economic Development Canada and the Canada Border Services Agency over the next twelve months, following the results of the competition.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Some essential and other qualifications will be assessed through your application. It is your responsibility to provide appropriate examples that illustrate how you meet each qualification. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
A degree from a recognized post-secondary educational institution in computer science, information technology, information management, engineering, business administration or another specialty relevant to the position being staffed.

Degree equivalency

Experience :
- Experience leading ‘agile’ or rapid information solution design and delivery.
- Experience leading project activities for complex projects*, including managing risk.
- Experience collecting, analyzing and presenting data from multiple sources to support the decision making process of management**.
- Experience providing advice to Senior Management ***.
- Experience leading a team of resources in the delivery of large**** and complex projects
- Experience in a work environment related to Information technology (IT).

* Complex projects are defined as having at least one (1) of the following characteristics: multidimensional, sensitive, confidential, affecting many partners or stakeholders, bringing something new to the organization, having a major impact on the partners or stakeholders.
**Management is defined as Manager-level and above.
*** Senior Management is defined as Director level and above.
****Large is defined as having a monetary value of 1 million dollars or more.

Knowledge:
- Knowledge of the theories, methods, techniques and practices related to agile or rapid application development and delivery and the role of scrum master
- Knowledge of project management life cycle, including risk management.
- Knowledge of the theories, methods, techniques and practices of project management.
- Knowledge of current informatics technology

Abilities:
- Ability to manage priorities.

Asset Education:
- Successful completion of masters level post-secondary education program from a recognized educational institution in computer science, information technology, information management, engineering, business administration or another specialty relevant to the position being staffed.

Project Management or other relevant certification (e.g. PMP, ITIL).

Ability to communicate in writing will be evaluated throughout their application, and may result in your elimination from the processus.

Depending on the number of candidates, volume management strategies such as, but not limited to, top-down selection process, cut-off scores, random selection and/or assessment may be used for the purpose of managing applications/candidates.
