The immediate need and intention is to staff four (4) term positions at Public Law and Legislative Services Sector - LS - Jurilinguistic Services Unit.
A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at Justice Canada with various tenures in the National Capital region.
These junior jurilinguist positions may lead to indeterminate appointments at a later date.
These entry-level jurilinguist positions could lead to appointments to jurilinguists (EC-07) positions once candidates are appointed, trained and autonomous.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Some essential and other qualifications will be assessed through your application. It is your responsibility to provide appropriate examples that illustrate how you meet each qualification. Education:
Degree from a recognized university with either a specialization in a law- related field or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience in that field.
Experiences:
Significant experience* in providing linguistic advice in English;
Significant experience* in revising English version of texts from a linguistic perspective, for example the grammar, syntax and style;
Significant experience* in comparing the English and French versions of texts to ensure their equivalence, to identify discrepancies and to suggest appropriate revisions.
* A “significant experience” means an experience the extent and depth of which would normally be acquired by accomplishing a vast array of complex and related activities over a period of four (4) years.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of the English language for example, its grammar, syntax and style;
Knowledge of the French language for example, its grammar, syntax and style;
Knowledge of the principal translation and revision tools.

Showing initiative and being action-oriented;
Ability to communicate verbally;
Ability to work under pressure;
Ability to improve, from a linguistic perspective, the English version of complex and sensitive texts for example, their grammar, syntax and style;
Ability to compare the English and French versions of complex and sensitive texts with a view to identifying discrepancies between the two versions and suggesting appropriate corrections;
Ability to identify, analyze and solve linguistic problems.

Asset Qualifications:
Degree from a recognized university in a field related to the English language (e.g. translation, linguistics, literature, etc.).
Experience in drafting, translating or revising legal texts.
