The Parole Board of Canada (PBC) contributes to public safety with its core responsibility for the controlled, timed and gradual release of offenders back into society. The skills and talents of our staff are central to this work.

A pool of qualified candidates will be created and may be used to fill similar positions with various linguistic profiles (bilingual, English essential) at the Parole Board of Canada, Atlantic Region. Tenure may vary according to the position being staffed (indeterminate, term, deployment, acting, assignment, secondment).

EDUCATION APPLICABLE TO BOTH STREAMS:
Successful completion of two years of secondary school or employer-approved alternatives.
The employer-approved alternatives to two years of secondary school are:
- A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to two years of secondary school; or
- An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCES APPLICABLE TO STREAM A:
- Experience in classifying or filing records and files in a records office or in a file handling setting;
- Experience in using computer programs and software such as Outlook, Excel, Power Point;
- Experience in using information management software or a data management system.
EXPERIENCES APPLICABLE TO STREAM B:
- Experience in extracting pertinent information from documents, files or policy, and taking follow-up action;
- Experience in using computer programs and software such as Outlook, Word, Excel;
- Experience in entering data into automated systems.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS APPLICABLE TO STREAM A:
- Must be able and willing to lift files and boxes of up to 30 lbs.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENT APPLICABLE TO BOTH STREAMS:
- Must be able and willing to review documents containing offensive and/or disturbing information.

KNOWLEDGE APPLICABLE TO STREAM A:
- Knowledge of Library and Archives: Information Management (IM);
- Knowledge of Treasury Board of Canada Guidelines: Information Management (IM) Basics (file room classification procedures);
- Knowledge of Common Records Office practices.
KNOWLEDGE APPLICABLE TO STREAM B:
- Knowledge of the Parole Board of Canada Mission Statement and Values;
- Knowledge of the Part II of the Corrections and Conditional Release Act, specifically sections 99, 100.1 and 107(1)(a) to (e);
- Knowledge of Part II of the Corrections and Conditional Release Regulations, specifically sections 147 to 154 and section 166.
ABILITY APPLICABLE TO STREAM A:
- Ability to pay attention to details.
ABILITY APPLICABLE TO STREAM B:
- Ability to identify and correct errors in written documents with an emphasis on grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

ASSET EXPERIENCES APPLICABLE TO STREAM A:
- Experience in using specialized information management software, such as Documentum records Manager, Foremost, RDIMS, IRIMS, Livelink, eDocs, Hummingbird or GC Docs;
- Experience in digitizing (scanning) documents as well as naming, retrieving and storing this information on an electronic medium;
- Experience in providing a file search and retrieval service.
ASSET EXPERIENCE APPLICABLE TO STREAM B:
- Experience working directly with senior officials/management.
ASSET EXPERIENCE APPLICABLE TO BOTH STREAMS:
- Experience is using the Offender Management System (OMS) CSC or PBC or the Integrated Decision System (IDS).
