Intent of the process

This is an anticipatory process.

A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at Natural Resources Canada at the CS-02 group and level with various tenures (determinate period, indeterminate, deployment, acting, assignment, secondment), various linguistic requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential, Bilingual Imperative, or Bilingual Non-Imperative) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements (i.e. Reliability, Secret, Top Secret), various conditions of employment and for various locations.

Education:
The minimum standard is:
• Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.
Notes:
1. Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the CS group.
2. It is the recognized educational institution (e.g. community college, CÉGEP or university) that determines if the courses taken by a candidate correspond to two years of a post-secondary program at the institution.
3. At the manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum post-secondary education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager

EXPERIENCE:
ALL STREAMS
- Recent * and significant** experience in participating in and leading projects of limited scope or components of larger projects.

STREAM 1: Corporate IT Support
- Recent * and significant** experience in providing technical support to clients on IT services.
- Recent * and significant** experience in configuring, maintaining, troubleshooting and managing desktops, laptops and smartphones in enterprise environment.
-Experience in supporting Microsoft Office 2010 suite or higher version.
-Experience in supporting Windows 7 and Windows 10 desktop operating system.
-Experience in using incident management tools such as Assyst, Tivoli, Remedy, etc.

STREAM 2: LoB IT Support
- Recent * experience in providing in technical services to scientific community and/or project teams.
- Experience in providing technical assistance on specialized software (e.g. ESRI ArcGIS, FME, MATLAB, etc.).
- Experience in operating system management (Linux).
- Experience in operating system management (Windows Desktop and/or server).
- Experience in resolving technical issues.
- Experience in providing in working on a complex environment such as servers, databases or web environment and services.
- Experience in researching and/or analyzing new IM/IT technologies and trends.

STREAM 3: IT Developer-Analyst
- Recent * experience in designing, developing, integrating, documenting, and maintaining systems such as databases, networks, and software and/or hardware for one or more technology platforms.
- Recent * experience in object-oriented programming, scripting language (C++, C#, Python, .NET, bash, etc.) for programming, data parsing and system administration.
- Experience in researching and/or analyzing new IM/IT technologies and trends.

*Recent experience is defined as experience that would normally be associated with performing these duties within the last three (3) years.
**Significant experience is defined as experience that would normally be associated with performing these duties for one year or more.

KNOWLEDGE:
STREAM 1: Corporate IT Support
- Knowledge of call tracking software.

- Knowledge of the methods, techniques and practices of planning the delivery of client services.
