Duties

Duties may include the following activities:
Conceptualizes and manages the delivery of programs and significant projects.
Conceptualizes project charters and manages project teams and working groups involved in the analysis and development of strategies, plans and policies.
Negotiates budget requirements, negotiates and manages service contracts.
Ensures that program risk management frameworks are applied for the assigned program elements and/or projects.
Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of programs, services and projects and contributes to the development of corporate policies and strategic directions.
Provides expert advice to senior management of the Department.
Delivers presentations to senior management committees, colleagues and clients/stakeholders on strategic issues.

The Courts Administration Service (CAS) provides services to the Federal Court of Appeal, the Federal Court, the Court Martial Appeal Court of Canada and the Tax Court of Canada.

A pool of pre-qualified or fully qualified candidates may be created to staff similar or identical positions with various tenure, various linguistic profiles and security requirements within the Courts Administration Service.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

At minimum a baccalaureate or higher level degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field relevant to the position OR an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

Degree equivalency

Recent* and significant** experience in the management of projects consistent with the federal government Policy on the Management of Projects OR a recognized project management framework (e.g PMBOK), including the development and maintenance of required project documentation (e.g. proposals, charters, plans, etc.).

Recent* and significant** experience in writing briefing notes and project documentation such as project proposals, project charters, project management plans, risk management plans, lessons learned, etc.

Recent* experience evaluating proposals and developing recommendations for senior management (Director General level or above).

Recent* experience developing and maintaining cross-functional internal and external relationships with partners and stakeholders to attain objectives.

Experience in planning, coordinating and chairing meetings OR working groups.

*Recent experience is defined as experience acquired within the last 5 years.
**Significant refers to the breadth and depth of experience and is defined as a combination of time spent doing the activity, as well as type (range, scope, and complexity) of work handled related to the experience criteria. Clear and specific examples should be provided by candidates in their application.

Project management certification (e.g., Project Management Professional).

Degree equivalency

Experience working in a judicial or quasi-judicial environment.

Experience managing projects within the public service.

Experience managing Information Technology (IT) projects within the public service.
