IMPORTANT INFORMATION YOU MUST PROVIDE:
Submit a cover letter (Maximum 4,000 words) demonstrating how you meet the following screening criteria: education, language requirements and each of the essential and asset experience factors listed in the Statement of Merit Criteria. This cover letter will be used for screening purposes and it will also be used to assess your ability to communicate effectively in writing. Your ability to communicate effectively orally will be assessed throughout the selection process.
Candidates must use the criteria as a header and then provide the necessary information that demonstrates how you meet that criterion. You must provide concrete examples to demonstrate that the qualification is met.
Note that it is your responsibility to provide appropriate information that illustrates how you meet each qualification. Candidates will not be solicited for incomplete or missing information. Failure to provide the requested information in the cover letter will result in your candidacy being eliminated from this selection process.
The intent of this process is to staff one or more position on an indeterminate basis in Ottawa, Ontario.
However, a pool of qualified candidates will be created and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures (casual, term and indeterminate), linguistic requirements and security requirements within the Department of National Defence.

EXPERIENCE
ALL STREAMS:
Experience in using the MS Office suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Experience in providing information management services, such as indexing, cross-referencing, filing, retrieving, archiving or destroying data.
Experience in client service.
Experience in preparing reports and correspondence.
STREAM 1: AS-01
Experience in providing administrative support services*** in an office environment.
STREAM 2: AS-02
Experience providing one of the following administrative support services such as human resources (staffing, training, awards and recognition), financial, accommodations, information management, security.
Recent and significant** experience in providing management with administrative support. ***
Experience in analyzing information from a variety of sources.
NOTE:
*Recent experience is experience acquired in the past 12 months.
**Significant is understood to mean the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of complex related activities for at least one year.
***Administrative support is defined as: managing daybooks, scheduling and organizing meetings/teleconferences, preparing and collating information for meetings and related documents, procuring office equipment and supplies, maintaining a filing system and other related duties.

EXPERIENCE
ALL STREAMS:
Work experience within the Department of National Defence.
Experience in supervising employees.
Experience using a Human Resources information management system (e.g., PeopleSoft).
Work experience relevant to the position involving the use of financial management software.
STREAM 1: AS-01
Experience in providing budget and financial support services.
Experience in organizing and preparing travel expense claims for federal government managers (senior managers).
STREAM 2: AS-02
Experience in providing budget and financial support and analysis services.
Experience in human resources planning.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Availability to work overtime, sometimes on short notice.
Must be willing and able to travel.
NOTE: Operational requirements (if applicable) may vary by the position to be staffed.
Reliability Status security clearance - Various security levels: Reliability Status and Secret security clearance.
Must be able to obtain and maintain this security clearance throughout their employment.
Reference checks may be sought.
An interview may be administered.
A test may be administered.
