Intent of the process

The immediate intent of this poster is to fill three (3) bilingual imperative positions on an indeterminate basis.

**A pool of qualified or partially assessed candidates may be created to staff similar positions within Health Canada and may be used as well by other Public Service Departments at this group and level with various linguistic requirements, various security requirements, various conditions of employment as well as various tenures as mentioned above. As a result of the potential and possible use of the selection process and subsequent pool by hiring managers, we encourage all employees seeking this type of position and/or group and level to apply.

Education:

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics

Note:
Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:

E1 Experience in formulating and providing strategic advice and recommendations to senior management* on the development of public health policies, regulations or programs

E2 Experience developing and maintaining collaborative relationships on behalf of an organization with a diverse group of stakeholders regarding public health policies

E3 Experience coordinating project teams to plan, manage and conduct policy research and analyses

*Note: senior management is defined as Director General

STREAM 1: Senior Policy Analyst – Stakeholder Relations

E1 Experience in seeking, analysing and interpreting stakeholder positions and, based on that analysis, formulating recommendations and advice for senior management concerning the development of public health policies, regulations or programs

STREAM 2: Senior Policy Analyst – Monitoring & Evaluation

E1 Experience in gathering and analysing health data for the purpose of monitoring and evaluation

STREAM 3: Senior Policy Analyst – International Relations

E1 Experience in researching, analysing and interpreting international policies and programs related to Canadian public health policies and priorities, and providing advice and recommendations to senior management based on that analysis

STREAM 1: Senior Policy Analyst – Stakeholder Relations

K1 Knowledge of the key public health nutrition stakeholders in Canada and their positions on Health Canada’s priorities related to nutrition and healthy eating

STREAM 2: Senior Policy Analyst – Monitoring & Evaluation

K2 Knowledge of research methodology in public health and data sources

STREAM 3: Senior Policy Analyst – International Relations

K1 Knowledge of the key international public health nutrition players and their policies, regulations or programs related to public health nutrition priorities in Canada
