Intent of the process

The current need is to fill two (2) positions on indeterminate basis. A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates may be established to staff similar or identical positions at Health Canada with various linguistic profiles (English Essential, Bilingual imperative BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC). The requirements as well as tenures (Specified period, indeterminate) may vary according to the position being staffed. Anyone interested in this type of work is encouraged to apply.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
-Graduation with a Medical Doctorate from a recognized school of medicine.
Degree equivalency/Occupational Certification:
-A valid and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a province or territory of Canada, in the province or territory in which the candidate is licensed to practice*.
*Candidates must meet and maintain the above conditions of employment throughout their employment.

Degree equivalency

E1: Recent* and significant** experience in the practice of clinical medicine, including performing health evaluations and providing advice and recommendations

* Recent is defined as experience acquired within the last five (5) years.

** Significant experience means experience obtained by the candidate representative of the depth and breadth of experience that would normally have been gained performing the duties for a period of approximately three (3) years.

E2: Experience working in a team setting with other health and non-medical professionals

E3: Experience providing advice to staff and senior management ***

***Senior management is defined as the following: Director and/or Senior Medical Advisor

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Certification in by the Canadian Board of Occupational Medicine or a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) in Occupational Medicine or Community or a recognized equivalency

Experience and/or training in one or more of the following specialties:
- occupational or industrial medicine
- rehabilitation medicine
- psychiatry
- disability assessment
- compensation or insurance medicine
- Experience and/or training in dive medicine
