The intent of this selection process is to staff one position on an indeterminate basis. A pool of qualified candidates will be established and could be used to staff similar positions whose length, linguistic profiles and security profiles may vary.

EDUCATION
• Baccalaureate degree from a recognized university in an engineering specialty relevant to the position such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or building engineering.
PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION
• Canadian certification as an Engineer with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or building engineering.
N.B. Prior to his or her appointment, the successful candidate must be accredited as an Engineer in the province of Ontario.
** The candidates who have their professional accreditation in another province or territory in Canada are responsible to verify with Professional Engineers Ontario on how to transfer their accreditation in the province of Ontario. EXPERIENCE
• Professional work experience* in one or more of the following disciplines:
- mechanical engineering
- electrical engineering
- architectural engineering
- construction engineering
- building engineering
* Experience is defined as performing relevant work activities for approximately 4 years within the last 8 years.
• Experience* in the field of building and infrastructure systems design including the preparation of engineering drawings, specifications and reports in one or more of the following disciplines:
- mechanical engineering
- electrical engineering
- architectural engineering
- construction engineering
- building engineering
*Experience is defined as having 4 years of experience. A minimum of 3 years of experience must have been acquired in Canada.
• Experience* in planning and executing engineering projects related to building or infrastructure systems.
* Experience is defined as performing relevant work activities for a period of approximately 3 years within the last 6 years.

KNOWLEDGE
• Knowledge of engineering and design principles related to building systems in at least two of the following areas: architectural, heating, cooling, ventilation, fire protection, plumbing systems, normal and emergency power systems, lighting or fire alarm systems.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD 2010 (or newer) software to develop, modify and approve building designs/drawings and modifications.
• Knowledge of building operation, maintenance and construction principles and techniques.
• Knowledge of building codes and standards used in commercial or industrial buildings.
ABILITIES
• Ability to communicate effectively orally.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
• Ability to analyze engineering related problems, give guidance to various stakeholders and recommend appropriate solutions.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience working in an equipment testing laboratory environment.
• Experience in competitive tender processes and building permit submissions.
• Experience in conducting quality assurance reviews of designs, reports, drawings, and specifications.
• Experience preparing proposals, work plans, financial reports, cost estimates and project progress reports.
• Experience in supervising in-house and external contractors, coordinating with various other consultants to ensure planning, projects and all deliverables remains within timelines and allocated budgets.
