The Department of National Defence (DND) is one of the largest federal government employers, offering over 70 different types of civilian career opportunities. This inventory may be used to establish pools of partially or fully qualified candidates which may be used by DND hiring managers to staff positions within the EN-ENG-04 group.
This inventory could be used to fill positions with various tenures, security clearance requirements or linguistic requirements.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical, electrical, materials, chemical, software, computer, aeronautical, naval engineering or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
*a degree is defined as a baccalaureate or higher level degree, as established by a recognized post-secondary institution.
OR
Certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position.
EXPERIENCE
At least 4 years of engineering experience* in the last 10 years in one or more of the following domains:
Domain 1: Capital Acquisition/Project Management
• Such as, but not limited to: Employment in or management of projects with an engineering component; the preparation, execution and control of project documents such as plans or statement of work, engineering scope management or control, technical risk management including risk response monitoring, and procurement support related to proposal evaluation relevant to the position
Domain 2: In-Service Equipment Management
• Such as, but not limited to: Planning and executing engineering-related activities to support and sustain in-service equipment systems or sub-systems. Applying engineering theory and principles to in-service equipment, determining support requirements, developing new concepts to meet operational requirements for modern integrated systems, or other engineering related duties relevant to the position.
Domain 3: Technical Specialty Engineering
• Such as, but not limited to: Providing specialist support in a particular field or subset of engineering, development or research engineering, test and evaluation engineering trials, applying engineering principles to processes in a workshop, laboratory or manufacturing environment, applying engineering theory and principles to policies or procedures related to the management of modern integrated systems, applying software and/or enterprise architecture concepts in the development of business plans, requirements management and application architecture, implementing business intelligence (BI) and/or business analytics in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) information systems, providing technical advice, guidance and direction to other engineers, leading studies to solve engineering problems relevant to the position.
Domain 4: Policy or Regulatory Engineering
• Such as, but not limited to: Providing policy or regulation support for materiel programs, manufacturing processes, or in support of an organizational equipment risk management system. Policy or regulation support usually involves either showing how policies or regulations are being specifically followed, or crafting policies or regulations for a duly recognized authority to put into effect relevant to the position.
Domain 5: Integrated Logistics Support Engineering
• Such as, but not limited to: Applying the concepts and principles of availability, reliability and maintainability engineering. Applying performance-based supportability concepts to meet operational performance outcomes. Conducting Logistic Support Analysis (LSA) to develop, implement and manage ILS requirements for a complex system or equipment. Conducting life cycle cost analysis to plan and manage affordable and sustainable ILS solutions. Determining ILS and supportability requirements. Developing an ILS program for complex systems or equipment fleets to ensure sustainable support solutions. Managing ILS business processes using electronic data, IT systems and network enablers. Procuring, contracting and managing ILS services for complex systems or equipment fleets relevant to the position
*Engineering experience is defined as experience performing tasks as an engineer.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
AE1. Master's Degree or PhD relevant to the position;
AE2. Accredited as a project management professional, for example with the Project Management Institute (PMI).
AE3. DND Project Management Competency Development Level 1, 2 or 3 Qualification.
