HOW TO APPLY?

Duties

Communications Advisors who work for the Government of Canada are required to provide management with strategic advice and recommendations on communication approaches, activities and tools. Therefore, they may be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies, often to promote a department’s services and activities, and sometimes to support the handling of an issue that could affect a department or the clients it serves.

The work very often involves developing communication products (news releases, questions and answers, tweets, Web content, key messages, etc.) and coordinating and organizing special activities or media events. In some cases, the tasks involved may be slightly more specialized and specific to a given field, such as the Web, production of multimedia products or media relations.

Intent of the process

This is an anticipatory and a common appointment process between several federal organizations. A pool of candidates could be created to staff identical or similar positions for a temporary and/or a permanent duration within various federal organizations.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

Degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

*The term “degree” refers to a baccalaureate as established by educational authorities.

EXPERIENCE:

• Significant* experience in providing a group or a management team in an organization with communication advice and services.

• Recent and significant* experience in preparing and revising communication products.

*Recent and significant: About three or more years of experience within the last five years.
