Here is your opportunity to put your education and economics skills to use in a fast-paced and dynamic environment! Economists at the Competition Bureau work as a central part of investigative case teams to identify and quantify the economic effects of vertical restraints, mergers, cartels, and false and misleading advertising. We seek individuals with advanced training in economics to further our capacity to undertake applied economic and econometric analysis across a wide variety of industries. The intent of this selection process is to staff up to three positions for specified period of (1) one year, with possibility of extension. A pool of qualified or partially qualified candidates may be established to staff similar positions with various language requirements and various tenures within Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (indeterminate, term, deployment, acting, secondment or assignment).

EDUCATION:
Currently enrolled in or completed a Master’s degree in economics from a recognized post-secondary institution (*course work must be successfully completed by August 31, 2018).
EXPERIENCE:
E1: Experience conducting economic research and analysis, including identifying relevant economic theories that may apply to a factual situation or economic issue.
E2: Experience applying empirical analyses to economic theories/hypotheses.
E3: Experience working in a team environment*.
*Please note that this experience may have been acquired during post-secondary education.

E3: Minimum 1 course taken at the graduate level in econometrics.
