•Be recognized as having full-time student status by the post-secondary academic institution at which you are currently enrolled (proof will be required).
•Be the minimum age to work in the province or territory where the job is located.

Duties

The successful candidate will particiapte in ecological studies of grassland birds, particularly re-capturing, using bow-nets and noose-mats, Horned Larks which have previously had geolocators attached to them, in order to explore wintering and migration locations.

EDUCATION:
The student must be currently enrolled in a doctoral program in the Faculty of Forestry at the University of British Columbia and have full-time student status.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
Experience* capturing and banding Horned Larks.
Experience* attaching and removing geolocators to/from Horned Larks.
Experience* capturing Horned Larks using bow-nets and noose-mats.
Experience* find Horned Lark nests.

*In the context of student recruitment in the federal public service, experience can be acquired through studies, work experience or volunteer activities.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Able and willing to hike on uneven terrain.
Able and willing to spot colour-banded birds from a distance using binoculars.
