A pool of partially qualified candidates will be established and will be used to staff identical or similar positions with various language requirements (English Essential, English or French Essential and Bilingual Imperative, BBB/BBB) and various security requirements within the Department of Environment and Climate Change Canada in Burlington (Ontario), Ottawa (Ontario), Toronto (Ontario) and Gatineau (Québec). These positions may be staffed on an indeterminate or temporary basis.

►EDUCATION:
ED1: Successful completion of an acceptable two-year post-secondary educational program in computer science or information technology, OR 5 years of an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience in computer science or information technology or in a field relevant to the position to be staffed.
Notes:
1. Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the CS group.
2. It is the recognized educational institution (e.g. community college, CÉGEP or university) that determines if the courses taken by a candidate correspond to having successfully completed a two-year post-secondary program at the institution.
3. At the manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum post-secondary education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.
►EXPERIENCE:
EX1: Significant** and recent* experience in software testing of enterprise applications***.
EX2: Significant** and recent* experience in performing analysis of business requirements document or technical specifications and developing test cases based on these requirements or specifications.
EX3: Significant** experience in preparing related documents in the IM/IT testing field.
Definitions:
IM/IT: Information Management / Information Technology.
*Recent experience is defined as experience obtained within the last five (5) years.
**Significant experience is defined as experience associated with the performance of a large number of related activities, taking into consideration the scope of duties and responsibility level normally possessed by an individual who has worked in this area for a minimum of 2 years (24 months).
***Enterprise applications refers to developing an application with at least one of the following:
• a multi-platform set of technologies requiring integration.
• a multi-tier diverse set of technologies requiring integration.
• a distributed user base.
►ASSET EDUCATION:
AED1: Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in computer science, information technology or in a field relevant to the position to be staffed.
Definitions:
Degree: the term “degree” refers to a baccalaureate as established by educational authorities.
Recognized post-secondary institution: A public or private institution that has been given authority to grant degrees, diplomas, and other credentials by a public or private act of a provincial/territorial legislature or through a government-mandated quality assurance mechanism. For greater certainty, also included are institutions authorized to grant specific academic credentials for specific academic programs.
►ASSET CERTIFICATIONS:
AOC1: ISTQB Certified Tester (Canadian Software Testing Board).
AOC2: Project Management Professional and/or PRINCE2.
AOC3: Any other certification relevant to the position to be staffed.
►ASSET EXPERIENCE:
AEX1: Experience working with Visual Studio and Team Foundation Server.
►OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Willing and able to work overtime on occasion.
Willing and able to travel on occasion.

Reference Check: Please ensure that your referees have a thorough and direct knowledge of your work and are able to answer specific questions about your achievements and strengths. In addition, supervisors must be able to comment on your abilities and competencies. Referees must have worked with you for at least 6 months in the last 5 years.
Candidates who have been assessed and found to have met all essential qualifications except official language requirements may update their second-language evaluation (SLE) results for as long as the pool is valid. Each candidate can only undergo SLE testing one time within the context of an appointment process; any update to a candidate's linguistic profile must be as a result of subsequent SLE testing done outside of this appointment process.
