Intent of the process

A pool of partially qualified candidates will be established and will be used to staff similar positions with various language requirements and various security requirements within the Department of Fisheries and Oceans. These positions may be staffed on a permanent or temporary basis (term, acting, assignment, secondment).

*Pool of partially qualified candidates: Following the screening of the applications, candidates who meet the essential education and experience criteria will be invited to write an exam. Candidates who will obtain the pass marks for the merit criteria assessed in the exam will be placed in a pool of partially qualified candidates. Note that interviews, reference checks and Second Language Evaluations will be conducted at the time of appointment.

EDUCATION:
Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
• Experience writing documents for management including but not limited to, status reports, business cases, presentations, records of decision, and briefing material.
• Experience providing support to management on matters pertaining to business or investment planning and corporate reporting.
• Experience developing or reviewing/interpreting or managing financial plans, financial forecasts, financial reports or project costing.
• Experience working in a multi-year project environment for a minimum of 2 years.

Asset Qualifications

EDUCATION:
Successful completion of a post-secondary diploma or certificate from a recognized institution in business administration or financial administration/commerce or project management.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
• Experience using financial systems and financial coding (salary and non-salary systems).
• Experience coordinating human resources requests.
• Experience managing projects.
• Experience supporting the management and delivery of major capital programs or projects (over 100 million dollars).
• Experience developing or generating and interpreting financial reports as well as reporting financial situation for senior management* review.
• Experience using scheduling software such as MS Project.
• Experience collaborating with team members or clients to develop, document, or communicate business requirements.
• Experience with Business Intelligence tools.
• Experience in developing business cases or cost/benefit analyses.

*Senior management refers to Director level or above
